We just finished week 2 of the beta version of Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy You Program and wow! What a great experience so far. My biggest takeaway this week is Strength In Numbers, and how much better we do when we reach out and lean on others.
You see, being a beta tester for an awesome program like this means that I get to do it in the company of 250 other lucky, like-minded people. We are all able to connect and share our unique experiences in a private Facebook group.
How much better is this program is when we do it with company. It’s so nice to see all of the sharing and caring that’s going on within the group. It’s also unbelievable to know that there are so many other people who are following the same recipe right now, and sitting down to eat the exact same meal, right now!! Isn’t that just incredible.

The World is Smaller Than You Think
Ok, I have to acknowledge that our group has people from all over the world, which in itself is very inspiring, but this also means that we are living and cooking in different time zones. So I’m not being completely accurate when I say that we are all doing this at the same time.
But that creates something very interesting as well. There are members in time zones as much as 15 hours ahead of mine, so as I am having my breakfast, some people have finished their dinners and are sharing photos with our Facebook group.
They will also share their thoughts and opinions on the meal. This has been very handy for me on a couple of occasions when I wasn’t terribly looking forward to making a certain meal. But when I see some amazing reviews on Facebook, right before heading to the kitchen to start prepping, I am suddenly looking forward to tonight’s meal.
Strength in Numbers
It’s really amazing how different our experiences can be when we do them with a friend. When we go traveling, it’s just so much better when we can share the beauty we see with a friend along the way.
And many years ago, when I finally quit smoking, even though EVERYONE around me was still smoking, I didn’t do it alone. I joined an online community called QuitNet and leaned on dozens of people. We were all at different stages along the same journey, sharing and caring, helping and inspiring one another.
Just yesterday I heard a cute expression from Dr. Mark Hyman, in reference to doing a wellness program with an online community, rather than doing it alone:
“Friend Power is More Powerful Than Willpower.”
Brilliant. He says that studies have actually shown that chronic illnesses (not just weight loss) improve when we are supported by community.
Find Your Tribe
So if you have been wanting to make a change in your life, whether it’s smoking, diet, exercise, or even a job shift, and you hesitate because you know you won’t get the support you need at home, please do not underestimate the power of an online community.
Just about anything you want to do has been done before. And just about anything you might be thinking of doing right now, chances are that you are not alone. There are people out there doing it right now, who would love to have you join them and share support and inspiration.
The first place I’d start is Facebook Groups. There are literally thousands of groups for you to consider. And if you prefer face to face groups, MeetUp.com is a great site to find like-minded people from just about every walk of life, who are looking to meet up in person to ‘do that thing’ that you want to do. whatever it might be.
How do YOU find your tribe? Do you have a favourite place or website that you go to when you need to connect? Let me know in the comments below.

Till Next Time,
